YCECA Residence wins St. Petersburg City Award for 2008

coryn-waterThe St. Petersburg City Beautiful Commission's Home of the Year Award will recognizes the contributions made by residents for outstanding efforts in landscaping and maintenance of their homes.

Our YCE Association board nominated the home of John Coryn at 1270 79th St. S. to The City Beautiful Commission for consideration. This home was chosen for its attention to detail. The Florida style home was purchased in 1993.Owner, John Coryn completed several quality renovations through the years. Notably, the exterior of the home is detailed with the extensive wood work. The architectural design of the home with its water wise landscape is impeccable from every angle of the property. In 2006, the pool and outdoor living / landscape area had been updated to add a tropical flair of color and balance that blends with the conservation of existing large oak trees on the property. This home with its abundant gardens and overall street appeal
contributes to the charm of our neighborhood.

The City of St. Petersburg Beautiful Commission was formed in 1961 and consists of a 15-member body appointed by City Council to assist and promote public activities to further the beautification of St. Petersburg that result in an attractive, well maintained City. Two professional landscape architects from outside the city chose the property recognizing, outstanding achievement in landscaping, unique garden design and maintenance.
